Prof Firoz Cachalia (NACAC- Chair) is the Director of the Mandela Institute within the University of the Witwatersrand.

Addition to his day to day job he serves in various executive management roles such as SASSFE (in conjunction with WITS foundation on fund raising), The ANC, Ahmed Kathrada Trusts, . He is also a board member for Corruption Watch, Hlanganisa Institute of Development of Southern Africa, and previously the Helen Joseph Hospital, Gauteng Planning Commission

NKOSIKAZI NOMANDLA DOROTHY MHLAULI

Deputy Chairperson

Her Majesty Nkosikazi Nomandla Dorothy Mhlauli is a Traditional Leader of the amaRharhabe Kingdom and keen proponent for the recognition and preservation of tradition and culture. Her Majesty Nkosikazi Mhlauli has demonstrated her impeccable leadership qualities at various institutions and in the service of the people of South Africa.

Nkosikazi Mhlauli made history by becoming the first woman to be elected as the Chairperson of the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders. Prior to her appointment as the Chairperson, Nkosikazi Mhlauli has been serving in the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders and was recognize on numerous occasions. Earlier, the NHTKL recognized her leadership skills and elected her to serve as the Acting Chairperson at some point and also as Deputy Chairperson of the House.

Her Majesty is currently serving in the NHTKL as one of the three delegated members from the Eastern Cape Provincial House of Traditional Leaders (ECPHTL).

In her role as the Traditional Leader, Nkosikazi Mhlauli served as a Regent of amaHlubi Traditional Council in Peddie in the Eastern Cape Province. Her Majesty is a member of the Kingship Council of amaRharhabe Kingdom and an Executive Member of Imbumba YamaKhosikazi Akomkhulu (IYA).

Nkosikazi Mhlauli is an activist for gender equality and human rights. Her Majesty serves as a member of Women of Africa Arise Forum, Africa for Africa Women, and Circle Global Business Women

Her Majesty is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Moral Regeneration Movement, a networking platform that facilitates and coordinates all processes and initiatives aimed at combating moral degeneration.

MX SEKOETLANE PHAMODI

Sekoetlane Phamodi is an activist against corruption and a keen proponent of social justice and human rights in general. He is currently working serving as a Board member for Accountable Now, a global membership network that works with civil society, aid and development organisations from across the world on improving accountability practices through a comprehensive ‘dynamic accountability’ reporting process.

He is also a member of the Reference Group on Anti-Corruption which provides overall strategic advice on the development of- and implementation plan for the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS). He led Accountability Lab’s strategic vision for a positively framed, whole-of-society response to social and public sector accountability as Country Director. Accountability Lab is a global translocal network that makes governance work for people by supporting active citizens, responsible leaders and accountable institutions.

In 2017 he served as Africa Regional ICT Policy Advocacy Coordinator for the Association for Progressive Communication. Earlier he was the National Coordinator for the SOS Coalition, a civil society coalition representing a broad spectrum of civil society stakeholders committed to the broadcasting of quality, diverse, citizen-orientated public-interest programming aligned to the goals of the South African Constitution.

He has participated in a number of august local and continental platforms such as South African parliament, Pan-African Parliament and Africa Internet Governance Forum

Phamodi holds an LLB degree, Bachelor of Arts Honours in Journalism and Media Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Legal Theory from Rhodes University.

ADV. NOKUZULA GLORIA KHUMALO

ADVOCATE OF THE HIGH COURT OF SOUTH AFRICA

Advocate Nokuzola Gloria Khumalo has Masters in Law, LLB Degree, obtained Board Exams for Attorneys and PLT certificate, Post Grad Diploma in Industrial Relations Management, National Diploma in Human Resources Management and Bcom Honours in Human Resources Management.

Advocate Khumalo is a member of the Johannesburg Bar Association of Advocates and the Legal Practice Council (LPC). She is competent in Legal drafting and litigating on various matters.

Adv. Khumalo serves on the South African National Defence Force as a Defence Force Service Commissioner. In this portfolio, she is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Policy Committee and a member of the Social and Ethics Committee.

Adv Khumalo is a non-executive director at Sefa, in this board, she is a chairperson of the Human Capital Re Committee, a member of the Social and Ethics Committee, Audit and Risk Committee. Adv Khumalo is also a board member at KCG.

Adv. Khumalo served as a non-executive director/board member at the Media Information Communication Technologies (MICT) Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) and was a member of the Risk and Audit Committee.

Adv. Khumalo served as a Trustee Board member of the Umgeni Water Pension/Provident Fund and specifically participated as a Chairperson and Committee member of the Provident Fund at Msinsi Holdings (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Umgeni Water Ltd. She chaired and led the management of Provident Fund at AME Africa Healthcare (Pty) Ltd, and overseeing the management of employee benefits.

Adv Khumalo served as a committee member for the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) overseeing the Human Resource curriculum in Kwa-Zulu Natal Province feeding to the National office of SABPP.

She has more than 15 years of experience in senior/executive management level, as a Human Resources Manager. Prior to joining the Bar, Adv. Khumalo worked for AME Africa Healthcare (Pty) Ltd, a Healthcare Information Technology company, which provides healthcare information technology solutions to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. (paperless hospital) She was responsible for the development of the Human Resource Strategy, policies and procedures; skills development and training, Information Technology learnerships; and overseeing compliance quality assurance and ISO Certification.

She is experienced in managing remuneration, payroll, labour law, labour relations, dispute resolutions, disciplinary and grievances.

Adv. Khumalo worked as an ad hoc Family Advocate and was responsible for conducting enquiries and prepared competent reports for guiding the Court’s decision on the matters.

She describes herself as a fit and proper individual who does not hesitate to act without fear, prejudice and favour.

MR. DAVID HARRIS LEWIS

Mr David Harris Lewis is the former Executive Director of Corruption Watch, an independent non-governmental organization that collects and shares information on corruption with the aim of holding accountable those controlling public resources. He served under Corruption Watch for 11 years. He was the co-chairperson in the reference group responsible for Mr.afting the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

Earlier, Mr Lewis taught economics as part of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme and in the Executive Development Programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). While at GIBS, he authored a book on the development of competition law enforcement in South Africa and edited a book on competition law in developing economies.

Mr Lewis was the Chairperson of the Competition Tribunal which is responsible for adjudicating matters under the Competition Act, including anti-competitive practices and mergers. I was full-time executive Chairperson of the Tribunal. In this capacity I was responsible for appointing and presiding over panels of the Tribunal. He was the Special Advisor to the Minister and Co-Chairperson of the Presidential Commission of Enquiry into the Labour Market Policy.

Many institutions recognised his knowledge of governance and economics and labour market and roped him as a board member. Mr. Lewis was a board member of the Wits Buisness School, South African Airways, Industrial Development Corporation, National Research Foundation, International Competition Networks, International Marketing Council and the Johannesburg Development Agency.

Mr Lewis has published extensively on trade union history, industrial relations, industrial policy, competition policy and, more recently, on corruption. These include book length studies, chapters in edited volumes, articles in refereed journals and conference publications. He also served on the editorial boards of several journals including the South African Labour Bulletin.

Amongst some of the notable recognitions he received in his career, Mr Lewis was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Economic Sciences by the University of Cape Town in 2011 and the Chancellor’s Medal by the University of Pretoria in 2018. He holds a Masters of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Economics & Law.

MS. Thandeka Gqubule-Mbeki

Mrs. Thandeka Ggubule-Mbeki has extensive experience in management, governance,journalism and teaching.

She served at the South African Broadcasting Authority (SABC) as an Economics Editor and earlier as the produce for the programme called ‘the agenda’ and was the Associate Editor at the Financial Mail.

Mrs. Ggubule-Mbeki taught journalism at Rhodes University and Monash University, where she established the journalism department.

She is currently serving as the in the financial sector as the independent non-executive board member Itransact Fund Managers, and the Automated Outsourcing Services (AOS).

Mrs. Ggubule-Mbeki is an award-winning writer who co-authored the book titled Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe: New Reflection and wrote the book titled No Longer Whispering to Power: The story of Thuli Madonsela and Semane; Queen of the Peaceful Crocodile. An Economic History of the Bafokeng People.

Mrs. Ggubule-Mbeki was recognised by various institutions for her governance, journalism and writing skills. She was in the Top 5 finalists for the National Sunday Times Alan Paten Literary Award, received an award from the Institute of Internal Auditors SA: Guardian of Governance. The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) recognised with the Nat Nakasa Award. She was the winner of the Toyota Stellenbosch University Woordfees Non-fiction award.

Amongst her academic qualifications, Ms Ggubule-Mbeki holds two master's degrees, a Master of Journalism from Columbia University, New York, and a Master of Philosophy Degree in International Business and completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Oxford University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the Rhodes University, where she is the TV Lecturer.

MR. NKOSANA DOLOPI

Mr Nkosana Dolopi is an educator, unionist, and leader in society. For 27 years now, he has been serving as an educator at Griquatown Combined School.

He is also currently serving as Deputy General Secretary for the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) and is a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU).

Mr Dolopi has served in various leadership roles in SADTU and COSATU and played a pivotal role in advocating for workers’ rights in South Africa.

He participated in several sessions that were organised by the Education International World Congresses. He served different organisations/bodies as a board member.

Mr Dolopi is a Board member of the National Education Collaboration Trust( NECT )and served as a Director for SADTU Investment Holding. He served in the council for the Central University of Technology , Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) and South African Council of Educators(Sace).

Amongst his academic qualification, Mr Dolopi holds a Masters in Labour Law and Further Diploma in Education.

MS. BARBARA SCHREINER

Barbara is Executive Director of the Water Integrity Network (WIN), based in Berlin, Germany, a niche NGO focused on building integrity and reducing corruption risks in the water and sanitation sector globally. She has expertise in the field of anti-corruption and integrity management in the water and sanitation sectors, including climate adaptation finance, procurement, and infrastructure issues.

She was instrumental in the development of the 2020 report by the Water Integrity Network and Corruption Watch South Africa: Money down the Drain: corruption in the water and sanitation sector in South Africa, and the seminal Water Integrity Global Outlook: 2021: Integrity in Urban Water and Sanitation.

She has over 25 years’ experience in the field of governance in the water and natural resources management sectors in developing countries. Over the years, her work has focused on how good governance of natural resources and water and sanitation can contribute to equitable, gender inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development and poverty eradication.

Barbara has worked in the NGO sector, in senior management in the Department of Water and Sanitation, as an Advisor to three Ministers over the years, and in consulting. She has gained governance experience over many years on the boards of various national and international organisations. She is currently a civil society representative on the international steering committee of the Open Government Partnership.

She has written extensively on issues of water governance and management, gender and poverty.

MS. KAVISHA PILLAY

Ms Kavisha Pillay is a well-known social justice activist with a track record in fighting corruption and advancing accountability. Ms Pillay has been employed at Corruption Watch, a non-profit organisation, for the last decade and currently manages work streams that relate to the intake of whistle-blower complaints, the publication of organizational research, and the development and implementation of public mobilization campaigns.

In her role, Ms Pillay has developed open-data platforms such as the Veza tool, produced over 20 publications on various anti-corruption topics, authored a number of media articles and submissions, and developed best practice policy for parliamentary appointment processes. Ms Pillay also has extensive experience in governance and currently serves on various multi-sectoral committees that seeks to root out corruption in our country.

Ms Pillay is currently serving a four-year term as the female representative for Southern Africa on the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) YouthLED Board, an initiative that forms part of the Global Resources for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE). Ms Pillay is also Social Change Initiative international fellow, conducting research and developing tools to counter disinformation.
